Pepsi University Football League graduate and Wakiso Giants Football Club midfielder Ssematimba Titus has been nominated for Pilsner Uganda Premier League player of the Month Award for November 2021.
Ssematimba, who started playing for St. Lawrence University in 2018 and clinched silver in 2019 is part of the three-man shortlist revealed by UPL awards organizers on Friday 3rd December.
He netted four goals in as many games for the Purple Sharks scoring twice in each of the outings against Sports Club Villa and Tooro United FC respectively.
The lanky midfield gem will however, face stiff but healthy competition from Uganda Revenue Authority (URA FC) deadly duo of Steven Desse Mukwala and Cromwell Rwothomio.
Mukwala scored five goals and two assists. He scored one against Bidco Uganda Limited (BUL FC) and four at home against Tooro United while his two assists came through against the latter and Vipers Sports Club.
Whereas Rwothomio scored three goals against Arua Hill Sports Club, Tooro United FC and Vipers SC before putting one assist to his statistics.
Elsewhere in the coaches category, Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) tactician Morley Byekwaso and Vipers SC’s Roberto ‘Robertinho’ Oliviera have bounced back to the podium for the second successive time.
Byekwaso who won the gong in October has maintained KCCA’s unbeaten run in the 2021/2022 campaign. He managed two wins (against UPDF FC and Arua Hill SC) and one draw off Soltilo Bright Stars.
Whereas Robertinho guided Vipers SC to two wins (against Mbarara City FC and Onduparaka) before ending the month on a disappointing note having bowed to URA FC (0-2) at the St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.
The same category has Wakiso Giants’ Alex Gitta who managed four games in November with 3 wins and one defeat. He led the Purple Sharks to wins over SC Villa, Tooro United and Bright Stars before loosing away to Express (1-0) in Wankulukuku.
The winner from both categories will be announced next week in the awards ceremony at Kati Kati restaurant, Lugogo. Each will walk away with a plaque and One million Ugandan shillings.
KCCA duo of Byekwaso and striker Davis Kasirye were the respective winners for the month of October.
