CHIMPREPORTS

President Yoweri Museveni on Sunday made major changes in the leadership of Uganda’s embassies and High Commissions abroad, dropping some of the carrier diplomats and appointing new ones.

The president, as empowered by Article 122(1), of the constitution appointed the Ambassadors, High Commissioners and Deputy Ambassadors “to the respective brotherly and friendly countries”

Among the noticeable changes, the president dropped Julius Peter Moto as the High Commissioner in London, replacing him with Amb. Nimisha Madivhan.

The latter had previously served as ambassador in the Nordic countries of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.

The president also dropped former Minister Barbara Nekesa Oundo, in Pretoria, South Africa, where she had served since 2016.

Nekesa is replaced by former Dokolo North Mp Paul Amoru.

In Tanzania, Miseveni replaced Ambassador Richard Kabonero with  former Nyabushozi Mp Col Fred Mwesigye

Meanwhile, those retained include Gen Matayo Kyaligonza who will remain in Bujumbura, and Amb Adonia Ayebare, who will stay in New York as Special Envoy.
