Abubakar Mayanja scored a foursome as Ssese obliterated 2006 Masaza Cup champions Kooki during the Butikkiro group contest of the 2021 edition played at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru on Thursday.
Andrew Mukasa and Christopher Bwambale added the other two goals for the Islanders who got off the mark in the free scoring encounter.
Mayanja Abubakar, a student at Henry’s College Kitovu drew first blood from the penalty mark after a foul on Emmanuel Tabu Kamya by Bekar Byaruhanga inside the box after 20 minutes.
Mayanja later doubled the lead in the 56th from close range tap in thanks to an inch-perfect cross by Emmanuel Tabu Kamya.
In the 68th minute, Andrew Mukasa scored the third goal with a brilliant header after getting at the extreme end of Christopher Bwambale’s delivery down the left flank.
In the 83rd minute, Bwambale tapped home from close range before Mayanja made it five for Ssese to complete his hat-trick with three minutes to the end.
On the stroke of full-time, Mayanja completed his haul off a weak looped ball beyond goalkeeper Iziri Ssemujju. Isa Mugoya pulled one back in the added time for Kooki.
The win was the first for Ssesse who return to action with a mid-day game against Bulemeezi on Friday, 17th December 2021. Kooki will face Mawokota at 3PM on the same day.
In the other game, Bulemeezi needed Muzanyi Hakiram lone strike to overcome Mawokota 1-0 in the late kickoff played in the afternoon.
